Now I thought I’ve heard that putting your phone up for a long time (like 2 years) can insta kill the battery if left on. Is this true? I’m buying an iPhone 6 off someone and they said that they never turned it off and it’s put up for quite some time. How bad will the damage be?

Apple has posted standby battery life for the iPhone 6 and it isn’t 2 years. The phone runs down and then turns off; there is no extended storage with the phone on. Buy the phone and get Apple’s $30 battery replacement.

IMO, you should buy the 6S over the 6.

What exactly do you mean by "put up" in the context of never turning off the phone?

How about:

1. Ask them to turn on the device
2. Ask them to install 11.3 and snapshot the battery health.

Damaged? like blow up, or start leaking? I think that's more O.C.D. on your part.

Replacement these days not expensive.
