I swear I remember on my iphone 5 that when you would lock/sleep you iphone and unlock it the phone would automatically start on your home page. My new iphone 6 does not do that - so if I'm on my 2nd page when I lock it then that's where it is when I unlock it. Is there a way to have this always switch to my home screen when I unlock??

It's been this way as long as I can remember, and I've been using iOS since the original iPod touch came out.

There's no way around it.

well thank you for the reply! Not sure why I thought my old one did it this way - thought I was missing something. Now I know - thank you!
