iPhone 6 with latest software.
Mail app shows 9 messages but when I open the app there is nothing to see.
My mailbox (POP) also shows 9 messages but does not open - so no chance to edit, delete or trash them.
Nothing flagged.
I use a local mail service, no problem with it on computer.
How do I see and delete the 9 hidden messages?

Two things to check first:

  1. Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data. If it's "Push" for that account, make sure that you don't have some odd folder selected under "PUSHED MAILBOXES".
  2. In Mail go to Mailboxes>Edit and check "Unread". Click done to see if the messages show up in Unread.
