iPhone 6 playlists

Good morning all

Does the iPhone 6 have an 'on the go' playlist function (or similar) like my old iPod had? Or is there some other simple procedure I can do while driving to somehow bookmark a track to put into a playlist later rather than just looking at the screen and making a mental note.

No "On the Go" as on iPods, but in a similar manner you can create a playlist right on your iPhone w/o iTunes.

Go to the Playlist section of the Music app and pull down on the screen to reveal the "New Playlist ..." option, give the playlist a name, then pick and choose from individual songs, or complete albums, playlists, or artists.

Thanks for that. This is mainly for use when I'm driving and need to push just one button to add to playlist. It sounds to me then that you have to make a mental note of what you want to transfer and do it later, or grab a pencil and paper - not that safe when you're driving.

Come on Apple - I know an iPhone not an iPod but there should surely be some way you can do this.

Agreed. You would think that it would be a simple matter for Apple to program a "long press" or some other gesture on a song title (or even artwork from Now Playing) to add a song to a reserved On The Go playlist, just like on the iPod.

Maybe if Apple adopts the new "Force Touch" feature on the next generation that could be used for this purpose:

But ... I won't hold my breath. It's been a long time since Apple gave the music UI any love at all, seems they don't care much about a fundamental core application like Music.

Yes, you can get iTunes on your phone - you can even buy music! But if you really want to do music properly, you'll need an iPod. And if you want a mission control for your iTunes you need to buy a Mac or an iPad.
