I don't get the storage behind my iPhone 6. It shows 32 GB storage, but in reality I have about 400 GB("Photos" storage) of videos on my iPhone (the 32 GB storage parameter never changes(i have like 19gb free left after and before adding 400GB) with photos or videos, the visual line changed to max to is in the end, but still i have like unlimited free space left), I currently try to duplicate videos to see how much real storage capacity I have, it takes time. Ah... and ICloud and internet connection is off.

Searching google for "how to find out how much space I have left" returns me to that 32 GB of line parameter, feel myself like I am from another universe, this makes no sense. This storage shows max 32GB that's not right at all.

How you store 400 GB of data on a 32GB flash drive???

Anyone knows how can I find out how much storage space I REALLY have left on my Phone?

General - Storage (please not this, there I see only total 32 GB and 19 GB free and of course 400++GB Photos)

What's the trick here?

Thank you

A second vote for that screenshot. Do you use iCloud Photo Library by chance?

I probably figured it out, duplicating a file does not really duplicate it just half mirrors it(with photo space) or it's just a bug of iPhone, who knew.

What’s that?! Mind explaining a bit more in detail?

If you go to photos and select the file and "duplicate" it, example a 4GB video file, you just recorded. This will result as following:

1. You have now two files in your photos.
2. "Photos" folder has now +4GB storage.*
* Overall iPhone storage will stay the same as before the duplication process.

This is why it's actually a mirroring effect, because duplicating a file does not duplicate in size.

However I am curios if you do this with the new iPhone's does it work differently or the same way...

That's it

iphonewhat : This iPhone storage settings have more inaccuracies e.g.

I have a 30GB movies in VLC directory, but iphone counts files folder as well, because VLC is a folder in "Files app"... And shows 104 GB from 128 but that "space bar" is full like I use whole 128GB...
And sometimes count free space as space which you can use by deleting unused apps.

So do a factory reset and maybe would count duplicate files right...
