So... this week my otherwise fine Iphone 6 has started suddenly shutting itself off when the charge shows somewhere between 21-30%. And then displays the screen showing it needs to be plugged in.

Generally speaking, if I plug it in and restart it right away- it is fine- even if it only adds 1% charge.

This has happened almost every day this week.

Anyone else experiencing a similiar issue? Or have any idea what is/may be causing it? Phone is not jailbroken. Has no other issues. Has been kept up to date (currently installing todays update- after it did this at 29% charge and was plugged in/restarted). No intensive 3rd party apps in use- Apple news and safari are my two biggest drains. And this week I turned off background usage on pretty much everything- certainly everything that was using even modest resources.

I'm stumped and don't have the first idea of how to proceed. Thoughts?

(and fwiw- I will check carrier updates after this update is finished. But I keep those updated to- and have a hard time believing that is the source of the issue)

^^ In terms of a hard reset by holding power and home buttons, yes. I have not done the more drastic hard reset of erasing the phone and re-installing from icloud backup.
