I have noticed that my phone gets warm when on charge on ios 12.

The phone stays warm throughout the charge cycle.

You normally notice slight warming during the initial charge , but the warmth tapers off the closer the battery is to full charge

This never happened on previous versions of ios

Anyone else noticed this

Oddly, I came here to report the same thing, although on an SE, which I believe is very similar to the 6S internally.

It hasn't happened every time, for me. But it happened again today.

As well as getting very, very warm, the charge cycle is very slow. e.g. 3 hours 30% to 87% today when a normal full charge (from below 30%) is an hour.

My workaround is to kill all apps saved in the background. That seems to "reset" things.

Maybe it's "indexing" while it is not drawing power from the battery?
When did you update to iOS 12?

Cable, adapter proper wattage, can be the issue. A utility to report battery temp and how it is charging, not just by feel.
