is anyone else having this issue? When I am talking to people on the phone, people say I sound really muffled. They can't understand me. But, when I switch to speaker or I'm talking though Bluetooth in my car, I sound ok. It only happens when I am holding the phone to my ear and talking through the mic.

There's nothing in the mic hole, I'm not holding my finger over the mic, this happens if I have my case on it or if the case is off.

Please let me know if you have any advice.
Thanks!

I've had that issue since i got mine. i went to the Apple store and ATT. no one has been able to help me.

Usually, the mic port hole is filled with dust, lint...and other human debris :>). If you looked at it and it seems clean, then the problem might be with the actual microphone itself. Independent repair shops can change the microphone (it's part of the dock flex) and it's usually a pretty inexpensive repair as opposed to an Apple OOW replacement.

I had this problem for the LONGEST time, on my 6s+ and my 8+.

Want to know what it was?

I was using my pinky to hold up the bottom of my phone and block the mic.

That and I found a problem if I'm laying in bed and holding the phone to my face upside down (bottom of phone pointing up) - the voice cuts out on my 8+ --- didn't happen as bad on my 6s+. Sucks cuz now I have to sit up all the time while talking.

I realize you mentioned you aren't holding finger over mic, just thought I'd share my experience. Good luck!
