I've done a ton of research and see there are a lot of threads about this problem. I can't figure out what to do. I called Apple and we tried all of the typical recovery options. I looked online for recovery software and it seems most are scams. I really need some legit help. I can't use my phone, the last backup I have is from March of this year (lesson learned) and I have very important photos and videos of my mother who's in hospice that I need to retrieve from the phone. At this point I could care less about the phone it's all about the photos and videos. Thank you

Stop listening to Apple before they suggest something that will wipe your data. Instead, contact Jessa Jones at iPad Rehab who's a specialist at data recovery.

I'm trying to avoid data recovery but will do it if I have no other choice. Talked with someone in the local Apple store and she seems to think they'r working on a fix given there's so many people experiencing the same problem. Cheers
