Just got to Hong Kong and was using my iphone 6s. Turned off airplane mode and got an SMS from Verizon about call/data/SMS charges.

Turned off my cellular data/sms/voice and somewhere in the 10 minutes the phone locked up and required activation.

Don't know why this is, as VZN phones are supposed to be unlocked. So hopped onto Wifi and tried activating but it says SIM NOT VALID.

What's going on here? I don't even know my Verizon password to call back home and try and fix this (on a family account).

I took the SIM out and it works OK, but I'm guessing now when I get to Thailand I won't be able to get a local sim card working there. Grr....what a major annoyance. I don't have a tool to get the SIM in and out (borrowed from someone) so no way to troubleshoot this.

Can anyone help?!!?

Your saying the Verizon iPhone 6s is not working with a local SIM from a carrier in Hong Kong? Verizon iPhones are unlocked and should work if the SIM you're using is good. Anyway there are plenty of shops in Hong Kong that can trouble shoot your phone. Better do it there before you get to Thailand.

No it won't work with the Verizon SIM nor will it activate. It only works if I take the SIM out.

Then you didn't buy a SIM locally in Hong Kong? You're probably going to need a SIM from a local carrier there in Hong Kong and later on in Thailand if you want your phone to work right and activate.
