On my new 6s, Mail keeps telling me that my Gmail address does not "match" my account. And the Settings page for mail is shadowed out so I can't change any parameters there. I'm at my wits end. I've changed passwords about 4 times. After rejecting my password, when I go thru the "Next" windows to the end they tell me that my password is correct (until I try using it!!) There must be a ton of mail on the server that cannot get into the phone!

I hope someone is expert enough to understand what's going on and steer me in the right direction.

Can you try this:

1. Delete the Gmail account from the iPhone (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Gmail account > Delete Account)
2. Add the account back to the phone...start fresh essentially...(Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Google)

**Since the Gmail account content (mail, contacts, calendar, etc.) is stored on Google's servers, you will not be deleting any of your data...you're just removing the account from the phone and then re-adding it.

If this doesn't work, please try rebooting the phone in between steps 1 and 2.

After a couple of days, Google emailed me saying " . . . we understand that you switched phones. Would you like to switch your gmail service to the new phone?"
I jumped on it like an outfielder chasing down a fly ball!
Don't ask me how they knew or found out! BTW, trying to get to the bottom of it with Apple led nowhere, except to a thousand requests for passwords, all of which were "wrong". What a bummer!
