hello guys,
I have a problem with my iphone 7 32gb.
Since i’ve updated to ios 12 i have issues with my microphone. When they call me they can’t hear me, and sometimes i can’t hear anything as well. The Voice memos app when i hit the record button doesn’t record anything. The voice line is flat.
Sometimes after 3-4 force restarts, and sometimes after 1 force restart the phone works normally.
The first time i had this problem the phone, after some force restarts, worked fine for 7-10 days. Since then, in 2 days in a row i have this problem.

Did anyone else had any issues?

There's a similar type of discussion at https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ger-working-but-bluetooth-audio-fine.2148352/ that might be of some help.

There's also this: https://www.macrumors.com/2018/12/17/iphone-7-microphone-defect/

I’ve heard and read about these issues but the weird part is that after a few force restarts the problem stop to exists.
I know there was many issues in the 7 series (this phone is the 2nd refurbished replacement, the first after a week of purchase the display died, and the second after 18months had issues with the microphone which wasn’t working on third party apps like viber, whatsapp and messenger) but in this case all points to a software issue..

When you force restart, you are physically twisting the chassis and logic board which can make it work for a short period of time. It’s similar to iPhone 6 Touch Disease where twisting the phone can fix the problem for a while. The problem remains with the soldered connections on the logic board.

That’s interesting. I talked with apple and since we don’t have any Apple Store in my country, they asked me to go to a apple authorised reseller and request a diagnostic report and send them the results.
Now, 3 days in a row the iphone is working fine. Do you think i should go when the problem appears again or the could see the problem as it is?

How does restarting physically twist something?

So, since i am from Greece and we don’t have any Apple Store, i went to an official authorized service 2 times, and they run the diagnostics, but they said that the iphone has no problems at all with the hardware.
In front of them i signed in with my apple id, and the mic problems starting to show up. I opened the voice memos app and hit the record and the app wasn’t working at all. They took it inside and run again a new diagnostic ad they said, but once again they didn’t have any hardware issue.
I came back home and tried a new apple id, and for the last few hours the iphone is working fine.

How it is possible my apple id to cause trouble to the phone since i am not restoring any backup? What maybe is the issue? :/

It's a hardware issue related to the soldering of the audio IC. The temperature of the phone can cause connect/disconnect. Physically pressing, twisting, or squeezing the phone can cause the chip to connect/disconnect.

Can normally the diagnostics show this issue? Because in order to get a new phone i have to have a diagnostic report from the authorized service that’s saying that there is a hardware issue
