Hey everyone,

Just got the iPhone 7 plus and was doing the set-up via iCloud. While it was loading, the phone got super hot and for some reason the keyboard wasn't responding. I had to do a hard-reset in order to get it working.

It seems to have cooled down a bit (which is a relief), but I'm not sure if this is something I should be concerned about.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My only concern would be that you interrupted the machine while it was working, and you might have messed something up. I would recommend that you do a full restore of the device using iTunes, and then let it complete everything without interruption.

The phone has sensors and it knows what to do if it gets too hot.

It does seem to be working correctly and all of my apps are installed now. I don't know if there was anything that was messed up from what I can tell.

I would not panic to much. When the iPhone is initializing, it's CPU is working fairly hard during set up. It's common. But if it continues to be an issue, contact Apple or your carrier.

Thanks everyone. Seems like this was a normal operating thing that happens. Though, I must admit, it freaked me out a little bit. That, and having a 6 month old baby that is teething will cause one to panic a bit when something seems to go wrong.
