iPhone 7 plus springboard crashing no jb

It hasn't happened often since I got my 7 plus, 3 or 4 times at the most, but sometimes when I open an application the springboard crashes, has the black screen with the spinning circle for a couple seconds, and then I'm back at my lock screen. Is this normal? All my apps and the OS are up to date, so I'm not sure why this happens. I just wanna make sure it's normal and maybe an issue that will be fixed in iOS 10.1

I have this issue about once a day and have heard many others do too. hopefully it's fixed soon.

I'm also having the same issue. There's like two threads on this with many other users experiencing the same problem across all models of the 7. Extremely frustrating to say the least.
