Hi everyone,

I have a couple of questions and I would like to confirm a couple of things.

I have recently sold my iPhone 6s and have an up to date iCloud backup. I am currently using an old iPhone 5 until my iPhone 7+ arrives. I set up the iPhone 5 as new. Once I get my iPhone 7+ I want to restore I want to restore the 7+ back to the iPhone 6s backup which will be a couple of week old by that point.

One concern is that the iPhone 6s backup is on iOS 9, whereas the iPhone 7+ will come preinstalled with iOS 10. Will I be able to restore from an iOS 9 backup?

Thanks :)

Yes you will. As long as it's still there.

That's basically part of how backups are meant to work, that you can use an older one to restore on a newer iOS version (you generally just can't do it the other way around and use a backup from a newer version to restore on an older version).
