i currently have a first week 8+ and besides not being impressed with my 85% battery health, this is the first time I am seriously considering going on a 3rd year with a phone. I skipped the x because of the huge price increase and wasn’t compelled to upgrade a year early for the xs series either. I’m honestly very happy with the performance of this phone, camera I still find to be great as well. And I still love my home button lol

Besides wanting a nice OLED screen (wife has a note 8 and blows my phone away) I’ve been very content with this as a daily driver. Only thing I’ll probably do is go get the battery replaced soon and see what 2020 brings for phones unless the iPhone 11 blows me away which so far there’s hasn’t been any major rumours

Another 8 users in the same boat?

I’m into year 3 on my 7 and it’s still so fast and smooth. The x phones haven’t quite floated my boat so it’s nice to know my phone has a long life and I can wait for something new to excite me. 8 must be even better.

I have an 8 and it was a good phone. Currently using a Xs but giving serious consideration to going back to the 8 when the new phones come out and selling the Xs used.

If I have 8 somehow, I would definitely hold off for another year or two. My 6s Plus still hold strong and it is approaching its 4th year. Still hold on. Given the ridiculous price buying a new iPhone, extending iPhone life is pretty much a necessity for me.

You're charging & discharging the battery in an abusive way. My three year old 6 Plus still has 95% battery capacity with over 1039 load cycles on it.
But to answer your question, I'll hold on to this phone until it croaks.

Another big one for me is getting onto a better plan as I always subsidize my phones on a plan and miss out on the BYOD plans. Plans on bc Canada are stupid expensive

i got obsessed with PUBG for quite awhile and it burns through the battery pretty fast, pretty sure that’s how I killed the battery on it lol

I went back and forth:

7 > XR > 8 > XR and now thinking going back to the 8 again...

Reasons?
XR is great, camera and battery are amazing, but it´s big, heavy and thick.
Is the second time I try the XR and sooner or later starts to bother me the size / weight.

My first iPhone (5s) I liked it at 100%: WOW! the screen, the weight, the camera, I loved it.

Then I went to the 6s and the feeling was the same: WOW! the screen, the camera, the size, perfect!

Then the SE: WOW! the 6s beast in a smaller package, great feeling.

But after that I never had the same feeling again, I sold the SE and go for the 7+ and last me 2 weeks, too big.

So I went with the 7; was great, but pretty much the same 6s feeling.

I'm gonna miss the portrait mode on the XR and the amazing battery life; but the feeling of the 8 in my hands it´s just perfect, every time I use an iphone 7 or 8 I found it perfect.

I´m gonna wait until that feeling comes again with a new iPhone (yes I know the X is near the 8 in size and weight, but I can't stand OLED screens).

I'm very happy with my 8 Plus. I knew that I wouldn't be upgrading last year before I even saw the Xs/Xs Max. In theory, I plan to upgrade in the fall, but I can definitely keep my 8 Plus for another year (or more) if I feel unimpressed by what comes out. The 8 Plus still more than meets my needs.

My only complaint with my 8 is battery life. Everything else is fine, I did a similar iPhone circle as you. The draw of the Xr for me is esim, I used it and it’s so convenient and battery life. I refuse to spend over 1K on a Xs,

My work iPhone is the 8. And I probably use it more than I do my Max. Surprisingly enough, my iPhone 8 feels just as ‘fast’ as the Max does, even though both processors are fairly significant to each other with the A11 and A12. Right now in Apples line up, the iPhone 8 is probably the best iPhone you can have for the money, considering it’s internal specifications of what it has to offer next to the XR, it’s still very much relevant of an iPhone.

Another humorous issue for me is moving between facial recognition on my iPad and Touch ID on my 8. Waiting for it to open my 8 and pressing on my iPad. Worse with tequila

I’ve already had that happen to me with my Air 2. Half the time, I don’t even know which side the home button is on. With the ‘Raise to wake’ display on the iPhone 8, I sit there and literally wait for it to unlock, thinking it has Face ID, which it doesn’t. Fortunately no one is paying attention to me when this happens.

I've always been on a three year replacement schedule, so, won't even think about replacing until 2020.

My 8 still has 90% battery. No major damage (small scratch on screen). Can easily get to 2020.

Unless Apple has something more compelling than today, might stretch to 2021 (XR is basically same size as plus phone, and not a fan of that; Max even bigger, pass; X/XS is right size, but don't need/lust for OLED and the associated cost for a feature meaningless to me, and the better camera is not important as well [have an SLR]).

8/8+ day ones are not the type that chasing the latest shiny toy. If we were we'd have gotten the X. ;)

Besides, if the leaks are to be believed iPhone 11 will be the most hideous iPhone to date yet with our old friend the notch AND that new camera bump!:confused::D my goodness!

I went from an SE to an iPhone X. Two weeks later I gave the X to the spouse and switched to an 8 Plus in December 2017. I was somewhat excited to try the XR in 2018. Got one and used it for 4 days, but, was very disappointed with the display of text, especially, dark text on light background. Went back to the 8 Plus. I'm sticking with it for another year or so.

Wow I hope that’s not the actual design lol

I'm over here with the 6 contemplating if I should go with 8 or XS. Pretty much waiting for tech that would remove the need for the notch.

6 only has 1GB RAM so I've gotten sick of the app and browser tabs refreshing. 2GB in the 8 seems like bare minimum for me.

I like the XS camera and 4GB RAM but it's even taller and bit wider than the 6 and 8. I've already got to fidget the phone around in my palms for my thumb to reach the top. My old 4 was the perfect size as a one-hand user.

Too bad the one-hand ethos has been scraped for all these phablets.

Since I kept my launch day iPhone 6 for 4+ years, I plan on keeping my iPhone 8+ awhile.

It still does everything I want/need it to do. And I like my quick and easy TouchID for Apple Pay. Don't want to give that up anytime soon.

So...unless there is some really compelling feature in the next Iphone lineup, I plan on keeping my iPhone 8+ for some time to come.

I love love love my week 1 iphone 8+

However i will upgrade in September because my company pays for my phone. So i would be dumb not to. If that wasn't the case i would hold onto it for as long as it was fully functional

Now the question is if the 2019 phones are disappointing i might just upgrade from an 8+ to another 8+ With more space and hand down the old one to parents

I’m keeping hold of my iPhone 7 till next year it had a new battery put in before the start of Jan, it’s currently 98% but what can I say a phones to be used not tucked up away lol

I’ve had 2 iPhone 7s I liked it so much I went from Rose Gold from 25 months to a Jet Black around Nov last year still operates quickly and smoothly!
