Was in Ikea today and wanted to try out, maybe buy one of the wireless charging lamps. So at £60 I abandoned that! But then I saw you can buy the little charging doodah for £10, and back in the office section they had tablet stands for like £3. So! With no previous experience I decider to mix the two together.

It’s nothing special but I didn’t like how all the wireless chargers I’ve seen so far have been flat. And so far this works excellently.

There are actually plenty of Qi wireless charging stands out there if you look online (some of them even let you transform the charging pad between being flat and being an easel). Though your final product looks pretty nice regardless :)

Was it hard to drill the hole to fit the wireless charger pad into? I've been thinking about augmenting furniture with an Ikea pad, but I'm worried I may make a mistake/ruin the furniture.

You can wireless charge through a case? I thought it had to be out of the case

Either way for that price, that looks awesome

Having used this for a while now I really love it! It’s so nice to just drop my phone on this thing and have it charge. There’s just nothing to it. I’m considering adding some kind of border to it so I can be even less thoughtful when putting the phone down, some guide bars angled down towards the centre of the pad.

YES. Good god it was difficult for me! All I remember about cutting holes was seeing my dad drill some socket holes in a desk I had when I was a teen= lots of small holes in a circle, then file down the rest. I got so many splinters! Filled the splits and holes on the back with some wood glue.

I bought this Spigen for the office and I love it (I have a flat Anker one that works well too, but for future purchases I'll get more of the Spigen). https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Essen...47052&sr=8-3&keywords=spigen+wireless+charger
That one is really neat! I don’t think it’d work on my bedside table because it goes back a little too much.

Yep! It’s 3-5mm I believe. It works with my leather Apple case and some cheap plastic one too. The range is great actually, it worked through the wood so I could have just glued the charger to the back of the case... it worked fine but I couldn’t use a case with it. But it would be nice as a stealth charger.

If these things just supported like 10mm we’d all be fine!
