I currently have a iPhone 8+ with usb connector at end of cable. Problem is I now have a MacBook Pro with USB C sockets and when I try to connect my iPhone to the computer with a Apple cable adapter or any other adapter I have , the MacBook does not recognise the phone in Finder. The phone has power going into it from the MacBook, but thats it.
Really confused and thinking maybe it will only work if I buy a dedicated cable with Lightening to USB C so therefore not using any adapter .

Anyone can help me on this one.?

Adapters can be slightly damaged and will be still enough for power, but not for data transfer, so USB-C to Lightning cable may be an option. But have you already tried all troubleshooting from the guide? https://support.apple.com/sl-si/HT204095
Yes ..did all that..I am just thinking that maybe the connection has to be direct through one dedicated cable. Previously I had a mac with usb connectors and never had this issue. Yes, all my iCloud, accts etc are linked and authorised. Seems odd ...and just a big time issue now to go to a Apple Store to find out answer etc.
