I tried the 8plus and I was impressed, however it was just too big - I don’t watch enough video content on it (have an iPad for that) and don’t game so didn’t feel it was worth the extra £ and increased risk of dropping it due to its sheer size.

Whilst I am incredibly tempted to leave iPhone altogether, I probably won’t so need to decide where to go next. Do I upgrade to the 8 for another 2 years which, in effect, is basically the same as my 6 but faster and a slightly better camera.

I’m not willing to pay for the x as it is too expensive, so wonder if it is worth waiting until September to see what they do next. If nothing else, it may mean I can pick up the 8 for a bit less cash.

Any advice/thoughts appreciated.

If your in need, I recommend looking for a used iPhone 7/8 if your 6 is on the way out.

If you can wait, wait.
I’m in a similar boat. The 8 is a very attractive phone (especially the product red). If this year’s iPhone don’t tickle me fancy, I’ll get the 8 (specifically the 8 plus) at a discount when the new iPhones are released.

If you’re leaving iPhone ecosystem, I would wait for more phones to come out with snapdragon 636/660. They will be inexpensive phones with awesome performance (thanks to the kyro cores, finally on something other than the flagship 8xx). I wouldn’t bother paying a premium for an Android phone.

May well do that. Certainly wouldn’t pay premium prices for android as I’m not a huge fan, I feel iOS is far superior in functionality. However, I’m almost done with Apple given how much they absolutely take the p out of their customers (battery life, storage, price etc.) so I’ve a real dilemma!

Wait. Four months. The 6.1 LCD iPhone may be a favored model for the price and features.
6.1 is bigger than the 8plus, so with the bezels removed won’t they be of a similar size?

Technically we don’t know the specifications as of yet, but if you look at the form factor of the iPhone X for example, it’s narrower and more manageable to hold one-handed versus the iPhone 8. So perhaps that might be something to consider in terms of size.

6.1 should be smaller the the 8 plus and the size is just a rumor at the moment it could very well come out in the 8 size maybe a little bigger. We will have to see. I would definitely wait tho, they may even release an iPhone se with edge to edge display next week.

Your close to September now so you might as well see what’s offered this year. Worse case scenario you will be able to get an iPhone 8 or 7 even cheaper than you can right now.

I’m almost positive I’m upgrading to an 8 now but I’m going to wait another 4 months until the new models come out and take advantage of the price drop.

My carrier O2 have for the first time ever for me offered me the chance to upgrade 4 months early and deals on the 8 look great. But if you wait the price will decrease a lot further and it’s only 4 months.

Or a refurb 8(+) after the new phones are released.

I’m the same. I have a 6S, I however did have the 8 for a week, it is a noticeable improvement and the camera is much better. But, it just didn’t feel different enough for me hence why it went back.

I was hoping for the new rumoured SE with iPhone X design to make an appearance, but alas no, it was only rumoured for the first half of this year, if not then it will be next year, or.... this new cheaper 6.1” iPhone might be the new SE which their have also been rumours about.

So I’m waiting, if I don’t see anything I like I may go back to the 8. Or I may just buy an 8. I wouldn’t buy a Plus at the moment though and would wait to see what the new 6” phone and 11 Plus are like.
And it’s worst for me as because I sent my 8 back fora full refund, I’ve got it’s money sat there, waiting to be spent in a shiny new iPhone!

The next iphone could take about three months to come out and who knows how hard it will be to get in stock.

If you wait a little longer you could score some pretty good deals on new iPhone 8 or 8 Plus models when the new iphone its officially announced.

That’s what everyone else predicted about the iPhone X and there was very little, to no shortages at all. Its all about production numbers. I think if Apple has ample production numbers and now that they’re offering two other models likely along side the 5.8 iPhone X, I think will be a more well-balanced offering over just one iPhone as it was in 2017.

You’re right!
I remember people were predicting in polls that if you didn’t pre-order in 5 minutes when pre-order became available you would not be getting one until 2018.

The iPhone 8 (not 8+) is a capable phone that will be excellent fro two to three years. It will also be the most powerful iPhone in a small footprint available for a while (who knows if an SE2 will ever be available). So if you want a smaller iPhone, the 8 seems to be it.

I popped in to CPW here to look at the Product Red iPhone 8 and am sold on it. Will wait until August or September to upgrade though to take advantage of the price decrease. The store we’re offering to pay up to £150 to pay off my contract to get me to upgrade early which was similar to my carrier offer with O2. How times have changed where they are begging you to upgrade early! A sign the upgrade market is slowing.

I asked about the X but the guy was more interested in pushing the 8 which I appreciated. I was only curious as to prices but they are still sky high and less popular apparently. The iPhone is their best seller still according to the sales assistant. Always nice not to have the BS in places like that.

I wish Apple released the product red version with all the other colours. Would have definitely bought it instead of my black 8 plus.

Yeap, SIM only contracts and buying unlocked phones for the win! Hence why the X isn’t the best selling model anywhere, bar on Apples rigged financial reports..
Just remember if you buy an iPhone from CPW it will lock itself to the first network SIM card put in it, they are not SIM free iPhones!

I’ll still buy on contract as I hate seeing a big lump sum going on a phone. I’d question the money even more if I was buying outright but that’s me. I’ll still get a sub £30 contract and take advantage of the lower upfront handset cost.

My contract is on O2 too so you can unlock for free at any point during the contract unlike EE who have the cheek to charge around £8 after a fixed term.

I quite like it with the black front. I’ve had numerous white iPhones and enjoying a change. I agree they should offer more colour options though as it creates a bit more desire towards a run of the mill product.

Generally curious, why would you ask about the iPhone X? I ask because you have constantly chastised against it in almost every way throughout these threads and I’m just curious to why you would want to know more about it, being it’s never been a consideration for you in the first place given your stance on it.
