iPhone 8/Plus iPhone 8 plus front mic. not working?

Out of nowhere, my front mic. just started to produce a lot of noice when i record in all aps (camera, instagram, messenger, facebook, viber, whatsapp etc.), and my voice just istn't there. When i get really close to the mic (like put the top of the phone in my mouthi hear myself barely. What's up?

There’s no mic in the front. There’s one at the bottom and one at the back for noise cancellation.

If the bottom one is not working then you should take it to the Apple store and ask them to have a look at it. If there’s a hardware issue and your phone is under warranty then they’ll either fix it or give you a new device.

When i record video with the back (main) camera (only in app camera) it works. If i try to record in any other app it doesnt’t work (exp. whatsapp, viber, messenger). Siri is not responsing, so the mic doesn’t work with Siri.
The only app where the mic works is in camera, only with the rear camera. With the front camera it doesn’t work.

That sounds like a software issue to me. Have to tried to restore the device and setup as new?

I’ll try. But srsly. I bought an 800$ phone and I need to deal with this crap...

I would recommend taking to the Apple store, as it seems like a hardware issue. The camera app (while using the back camera) will use the mic on the back of the phone, while most other apps will use the front mic on the bottom of the phone. Since your back mic seems to be working, it seems like the front mic has failed. I bought an 8+ at launch and noticed the speakers were getting pretty quiet, so I took it to the Apple store to run some tests. When the genius did the audio test, the only mic that worked was the back mic, and both the speakers failed. I hadn’t noticed the mics being broken as I almost never use the front mic. Luckily, cleaning the speakers out fixed them, but the front mic was still damaged. The problem with replacing the front mic is that it’s part of the display assembly (at least according to the genius that was helping me), so replacing it requires a new screen. They did fix it for free though, so you may be able to get a new screen for free
