iPhone 8/Plus iPhone 8 plus touch id ring scratching?

So my phone is yet a week old.. and the home button has allready scratches around the metal ring from it.. nothing stays new but anyone else notice some scratches or nicks on gold or silver also the 7 plus counts.. let me know

Apple forums is useless if i asked it there..
hope someone here can help (also i don't want to replace it since it won't stay new and might get a phone with worse problems..)

My 7 Plus never had scratches. However, I am sure there are many people that acquired scratches on their phone in the same general area as you.

Put the phone in a case or deal with as is. Not sure what you expect us to be able to do outside of saying an unprotected phone can get scratches.

My phone was put in a case since day one with screen protector and bearly used it.. i often clean the button with a cloth some soft cloth everyone recommends.. but my 7 plus had that kind of scratches too on the metal ring i lived with it since it wasn't very noticable but now again like how? From a soft fiber cloth you know we pay like gold bars for these phone right? I expect to have a premium phone for 1'000 dollars..

Even with the phone in a case, it can still get scratches if there is a spec of dirt that gets caught inside etc. Even the fiber cloth you used can (depending on brand etc.) make scratches if it isn't of quality or had some debris on it you didn't see.

I know all about the expense of the iPhone. In the end, it is a tool not a work of art. Minor scratches like the ones you have mentioned are not going to interfere with the use of the phone.

I know you are frustrated but it is what it is. Life happens.

You are right. I have to live with it a phone doesn't stay new Indeed but just schocked that it would scratch that easily the brand is really good quality tho and no dirt or something in the cloth it was brand new maybe the little scratches will dissapear when i use the button alot more or after a few years replace it. That whole home button assembly is glass and the ring is just paint.

I knew that since iphone 5s... i'm talking about the "RING in (METAL) AROUND IT" that shiny part... that ain't glass sir the white part is..

Unrelated to the OP’s point, but there have been plenty of threads on here where the home button can scratch. It does have a sapphire coating over the button for the touch ID, but it doesn’t mean it can’t happen either.

Oh yeah of course but I can’t understand how it gets scratched with normal usage. Don’t people just use finger / thumb tips on that button?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the major reason it scratches is those that put it in their pocket and there is debris that is unseen to the eye that can scratch the Sapphire coating. And there of those who set their iPhones face down on a hard surface, which is also another way to scratch the home button.

There is no way to avoid scratches on the home button ring you can't cover it with case?

Mine ring on iPhone 6S Plus is scratched but it doesn't bother me anymore, it's 2+ years old phone.

For a new phone it’s nice to try and keep it prestige mint condition, same with anything new, but wear and tear will happen. Even worse when you get a scratch or a ding on a brand new vehicle. But it is what it is. I’d be inclined to think the ring is simply painted plastic.
