I have an iPhone 8 that is dropping battery rapidly. iOS 14.8.

Battery was replaced about 9 months ago, and is currently reading 99% capacity and "peak performance".

I charge my phone overnight to 100% and start using it in the morning. Today, I took the phone off the charger around 7:30am and here I am now, at 10:45am with 63% battery left, with a total screen on time this morning of 44 minutes.

Here's a screenshot from the last day. You can see I charged to 100% overnight.

I have no idea what is going on here, and I would expect better battery life than this. Background app refresh is off for most apps. I end up having to plug my phone in multiple times a day.

Here's the 10-day average screenshot:

Any suggestions? I don't particularly want to buy a new phone yet :)

You've used a social media video and photo app and a surveillance video app for 2 of the 3 hours the phone was off the charger? Get a new iPhone, there is no way anyone is going to be able to convince you to use those apps less.....A LOT less...

More what I wanted to highlight is that since a 100% charge this morning, I've had 44 minutes of screen on time and my battery dropped to 63%.

As a comparison, since making this post, my battery is now down to 52% (an 11% drop in 1 hour). That included 11 minutes of screen-on time, 2 mins for Google Home, 2 mins for Music background (it's not open in the background), and 1 min for a few other things. That seems nuts.

Effectively, since my 100% charge this morning until now (currently at 49% battery), I've had:

- 63 minutes of total screen on time
- 15 minutes of instagram
- 7 minutes of TikTok
- Other, various

Does that constitute a ~50% battery drain?

There’s nothing wrong with the phone and the battery is new and if you took it to Apple for diagnostics they’d say it’s working fine. Yes, the discharge is rapid but there’s nothing you can do about it except not use the phone as much. Doesn’t seem right but it is what it is.

Looks pretty normal to me. iPhone 8 doesn't have a large battery so if you get 4-5 hours on screen time it's doing fine.. Of course I'm going off the photos you've provided.

I guess if I actually were getting 4-5 hours of screen on time, I'd be fine. But yesterday morning I got what would amount to ~2 hours of screen on time, with battery-heavy social apps accounting for ~35% of that.

That doesn't seem right to me, especially considering a battery that's in close to a new state. I realize apps have grown more complicated and processor intensive, but I got much better battery life a year ago.
