iPhone 8/Plus iPhone 8 Rattles?

...near the camera. If you own an 8 (4.7", not Plus), please try this:

- hold the phone by the edges (not front and back sides) near the bottom/Home button end

- tap around the camera gently with a fingertip

Do you hear a rattling sound? I do. Something is clearly loose inside the phone. I'm wondering if it's by design or whether something is wrong with this specific iPhone. Note that if I hold the phone by the front and back it seems to pinch the phone enough to silence the rattle.

If you are talking about a rattling noise next to the camera, its supposed to happen. The camera is adjusted via a mechanical magnet system. Guess what happens when the module is denergized. Same thing with the lower part of the home button. The taptic feedback is made of magnets that "shake" a rod creating the "click" feeling of the home botton.

Just for reference, a lot of iPhones actually have this rattle, it's not just the 4.7 model. There are multiple threads over the years of others discussing this as well. It's nothing to be concerned about.
