We already know that the iPhone 8 is going to charge via the lightning connecter and not USB C but we do not know whether Apple will include a lighting to USB C cable or lightning to USB A cable in the box. A lightning to USB C cable would allow for fast charging and direct connection to the newest MacBooks but there have been conflicting reports on which cable Apple will include in the box.
Sticking with the old lightning to USB A cable would make it so that people could continue to use current accessories (such as power banks) and connect it to older laptops that don't have USB C (most people don't do this anymore though). However, a lightning to USB C cable would allow for fast charging and compatibility in the future. Even though there are benefits to including a lightning to USB C cable with the iPhone 8, it might provoke backlash. People would say that Apple is forcing them to buy new accessories.
Personally, I'm hoping that a lightning to USB C cable will be included with the iPhone 8 but it is not yet clear what Apple will choose to do. What do you guys think Apple should do about this and what do you think they will actually end up doing?
