I have seen so many complaints about older iPhones (iPhone 5s-7/7 Plus) when it comes to iOS 11. I want to know personal experiences with peoples iPhone 8/8 Pluses. I'd like to also know what iPhone you came from before, and how it performed on iOS 11 (if applicable)

It’s MUCH better on the 8+ compared to the 7+. Seems like they just haven’t completely optimized it for the old phones. That said, it worked fine on my 7+ but just not as fast as the 8+. I haven’t had any issues besides the crackling audio during calls but this has already been patched in 11.1

It is fine on my 8. I have iOS 11.1 beta on my phone and it seems faster than 11 was for me. Just my own personal observation though. I have learned over the years each person has different stories as to how any iOS runs on their own phones so take my experience with a grain of salt.

Have an 8 plus and haven’t had any issues. Hear people all the time say iOS 11 is a mess but I haven’t experienced anything negative.

What device are you coming from?

Hmm. This video seems to show the opposite of what you say. Interesting.

My 7 plus feels so bogged and laggy seriously the difference between 10.3.3 is night and day only reason why I won’t downgrade back is because I stupidly updated my Apple Watch to Watch os 4
I feel bad for you. Im still on 10.3.3 on my 7 and 3.2.3 on my series 2. Everything works great with great performance and little crashes and awesome battery. Going to stay where I am for as long as possible!

I went from a 7+ to an 8+ and iOS 11 is so much faster, I don't even know where to start.

Also, battery life on the 7+ took a hit (about 20% less compared to iOS 10). Now with the 8+, it lasts more than what the 7+ ever did, even when new.

So as someone else said, I guess iOS 11 just isn't optimized yet for older phones.

How is the iPhone 7 an 'old phone'? Realistically, the 6S and up should run it perfectly. The feature list is minimal for iPhones.

Yeah I’ve seen similar videos but honestly it’s much faster for me. I even compared the 8+ to my 7+ running 10.3.3 and the 8+ still feels way more fluid/much faster. Not sure if it’s just my particular use case, but it’s a big difference

Sorry I meant “older phone”. The 7+ isn’t old and should be optimized for 11 but it isn’t. I think iOS 11 just has a long more in the background and the newer CPU is much better at running multiple tasks simultaneously because of the 6 cores.

That's interesting. The home button delay doesn't bother you either? I envy you if it's true!

11.0.1 is crap on my 8 Plus. Multiple freezes, lag in touchscreen input, froze up on me twice today to the point where nothing would work. Not even force restart or DFU from iTunes. Plus my Mophie Qi charger is eh, too. Starting to wonder if I got a lemon.

iOS 11 ran fine, but had bugs like the AirPods are quiet and take forever to connect.

Staring with iOS 11.0.1 is supper stuttery

Truth be told, iOS 11.1 beta 1 is faster on my iPhone 7 than 10.3.3. All you need to do is a clean restore, iCloud backup restore, then reset all settings.
