Hi iPhone 8 Users,

I wanted to know the about the long term durability of iphone 8 back glass.

I am planning to buy one and put it in a case.

Did anyone of you break it in a case or caseless ?

The back glass is still pristine on my 8. I've had it a year now, dropped it a few times, but it lives in a Speck case. I've taken the case off each time it was dropped just to make sure it wasn’t cracked. So far so good.

Using an 8+Red (work phone).
Instead of a case I am using a leather back skin (from Vaja). Doesn’t interfere with wireless charging. So far no issues with the back of the device at all.

Yes - using a ballistic glass protector for the front.

Perfectly fine.

I hate adding bulk to phones, so it’s generally kept in a very thin case just to offer some basic protection from minor bumps and scratches. I have carried and used it “naked” at times. I’m just careful not to drop it.

Perfectly fine on my launchday iPhone 8 Plus.

I am carrying it around in my FitBAG ever since and use it without a case. I hate cases on phones and like them "pure" in my hands :D

Thanks for asking this question. I’m upgrading in a few weeks and I’m debating whether or not to get an iPhone 7 or the 8. The 7 seems more durable while I noticed tons of scratches on the front and back of display 8’s.

I am in the same boat as you are. I have already used a 7 before and it got stolen. Now i am contemplating between 7 or 8. I am going for refurb one, 7 is 379 and 8 is 499 $.

Only thing holding me back is back glass durability of 8. But as my fellow men have stated it stays fine in a case. So i will be keeping it in a case too.

As for 7 vs 8 overall, 8 has better processor A11 Bionic same as X, 64gb upfront, better battery life ( I have heard its comparable to 7plus battery life), more future proof for ios updates.

Rest everything is more or less same for 7 and 8 be like screen size, quality, phone size, camera. Please note iphone 7 battery life is not good at all. It used to be a 0% by 3pm everyday when i had it.

back glass is fine, front glass is trashed. apple leather case didn't save it
Should have added a glass screen protector mate

[doublepost=1542212777][/doublepost]Have had the 8 since launch. In a slim Landers case with a BodyGuard glass cover. Highly recommend the glass cover as it feels good and resists smudging. Have not had to test the durability as it has never been dropped.

I've only had mine for a week or so but it's brought me back to how nice that form factor is compared to the X.

I haven't taken the Apple silicone case off since I put it on but I imagine the glass is perfect since it hasn't been dropped.

8 also has better display, wireless charging and better camera... Just use a case and it will be fine. The 7 is a great phone but, for the extra $120 I’d go for the 8..

Definitely get the 8 OP. For a small sum more you get a slightly better screen and wireless charging which has been very convenient for me. No more hunting around the side of my bed for the charging lead lol. I have the 8+ and it’s a lovely phone.

Scratches on the 8 can easily be mitigated by a decent case and screen protector. Really, I think it depends how you take care of your phone, if you use your phone case-less, then expect scratches as it’s exposed to any type of environment. Overall, I would opt for the 8, as it’s Apples most mature iPhone with all improvements over the 7.

Fellow Users... Can you please comment on the battery life for 8..

How is it compared to your last your iPhone?

I really care for an all day battery life with moderate usage. I had a 7, and that was no good in battery department.

8+ - had a 7+. Main device is a Razer.
My 8+ has equivalent battery life compared to my 7+. In general. Where I have noticed a difference (seeing the same on my IPP 12.9 G2 LTE on PB2) is when I use video. Netflix, Spectrum TV, Youtube, games with video, all use more battery life. As a result, both the 8+ and IPP last less than my 7+ (and IPP on 11) during a normal days use. I have had to go back to power sipping (charging ad hoc when possible) during the day.

I get a full day or longer but I am a very light user. I use my iPad mainly, so it’s mostly just calls and text on my phone.
