iPhone 8/Plus iPhone 8plus screen

ing went to upgrade to 8+ today but just couldn't do it when comparing the screen to my current 7+. The 8+ screen is noticeably dimmer. Checking all the settings possible it stayed dim next to my old phone. The O2 assistant was of no use. They try and push you to X which I can't stand. Really dislike the long screen, small videos and keyboard etc.. Did apple deliberately make the 8+ screen less attractive than before so people would buy X which is next to it and of course has a beautiful bright screen?
I read somewhere here that there are different makers for the screen with different number attached and that determines if your screen is yellow and dim or bright. Is this true? How does one finds it about the codes?
It is disappointing if Apple has deliberately created inferior screen to previous model.
I am so tired of Apple but can't go through changing to android and losing apps, ApplePay etc.
But as is am stuck with an old phone and have been paying a lot for refresh contract which allows the annual upgrade!

8 Plus owner here. Noting but praise for my screen. It’s the more uniform screen I’ve ever seen on an iPhone and I’m really picky on brightness and tint uniformity.

Turn off true tone. This is a setting that detect ambient light and dims or brightens the screen. The 7 doesn't have this feature.
 
The iPhone 8 Plus display brightness has been measured to be dimmer compared to iPhone 7 Plus. Several reviewers have confirmed this.

In terms of brightness, it's inferior to iPhone 7 Plus. It's not due to True Tone.

In all likelihood, it's Apple trying to conserve power since the iPhone 8 Plus has a smaller battery.
 
I went from a 6S+ to 8+. I also noticed that the screen was less bright, and it also has less of a blue tone so the whites appear different. This really bothered me during the first couple of hours while I was setting up the 8+ and spending time comparing the two phones. I like bright displays and the awesome white on the iPhone is definitely something I enjoy.

So given all the other improvements on the 8+ I'm keeping it. After a putting down the 6S+ and just using the 8+, I'm finding that I am completely satisfied now with the display. Even when I briefly compare now, I'm still happy. Now, regarding the vibration through the screen when the speakers are playing at any volume, that is something I'll never get used to. Regardless, good phone, glad I bought it.
 
I have a 8plus I’m going to return. Actually my second. First one had dead or stuck Pixel and uneven lighting. Second one no dead pixels but it’s uneven also. Bottom is warmer and top is bluish. Not sure I’m gonna try again or just give up and keep my 6s Plus. Apple just replaced it for free yesterday so it’s practically a new phone.
 
When indoors my screen brightness seldom even reaches 50%, so I’ve personally never cared much about the max brightness a device is capable of. All I know about the brightness of my 8 plus is that it’s more than enough.

The max brightness of 8 Plus with auto brightness is 620 nits while 7 Plus is 705. The 7 Plus screen is confirmed to be brighter. No doubt Apple had to save costs for the X.

I have no idea what you are talking about. The screen on my 8plus is gorgeous. It’s the best lcd screen and the trutone is something to truly appreciate once you start using it and you notice “white paper” has different tint based on the surrounding lighting and trutone mimics the effect to an effective Degree.
Edit. I read the other comments about max brightness... didn’t know about that fact. Interesting change Apple. I did not notice the change and I usually keep my display 60-70% brightness.

The iPhone 8 dislay is Noteably dimmer (Warmer) over the 7. Just like the iPhone 7 does not have that bluer/starker tone compared to the 6S.

My iPhone 8+ is very bright and have to tonedown to about 50 percent.
