Hey guys,

I wondered if anyone could clear up the activation process of the iPhone for me?

Basically i have a O2 phone in the UK, which i want to get rid of and purchase an iPhone.

As i'm only half way through my contract, I'm wondering if i can buy an iPhone from the Apple Store, take it home, put my current O2 UK sim card in it, activate the iPhone in iTunes and i'm hoping all will work.

Does anyone know if this should be the case, or if i'm very much off the mark!

Thanks all. :apple:

Yes your on track put your current O2 sim in the Iphone and then connect it to itunes and then just answer the simple questions and follow the instructions and you'll be all set.

will this seriously work.. Im on o2 pay as you go. and so all i need to do i pay £269 for the phone and thats it... If this is the case I am amazed and will buy an iphone instead of a touch... Can anyone confirm that it is this easy.

Here in the USA, the iPhone came with a pre-installed SIM card. When you connect it to iTunes, I selected my AT&T data plan (I was already a customer, so I just added a $30 unlimited data + 1500text plan) and it activated in seconds.

For me, it was VERY easy. But of course, you can't count on it 100% being like that for O2 since it's a totally different carrier.

Damn. I wanted to use my pay as you go chip and didnt want a £30 a month contract, but it seems as if that is unavoidable... Seems like ill have to get a touch
