I recently updated AIM on the iPhone (the free version) and I originally turned the SMS notifications on, but I soon found it too much so I set it off. Now, even with it off and AIM's Sign off set to immediately, I keep getting IMs forward to my iPhone via SMS. So if I'm signed onto my screen name on my Mac and then sign off, IMs are forwarded to my iPhone even when I told it not too.

I tried turning it on and off again and nothing has helped. Has anyone else had a similar issue or know how to solve this problem?

I've even gone to my AOL mobile page, signed in on my @mac.com name and added the phone and then deleted it. Just to see if it'll work, I even signed in under @me.com to see if it would make a difference. But it seems it treats each login as a different SN. I removed the App from my iPhone and I STILL get SMS texts. This is annoying.

Also since I've had to sign out and sign in so many times, AIM tells me I need to wait 5 minutes, which is silly because each time you make a change on your AIM app on the iPhone it requires you to sign on and off. I've taken the App off now I'll try re-installing, maybe this time the settings will work.

Update: When I log in with the screen name on the PC or Mac, it says no mobile device is connected with the screen name. Yet I'm still getting texts. :(

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
-Steve

I am having this same issue, I have even deleted the AIM app, restarted, synced and even reformatted my iPhone and I still receive text alerts like I am still signed online to AIM...even without the app on my phone!! Anybody else have any clue, if there is a place to find an answer it would be here.

Sounds like it is a problem on AIM's end not on the iPhone. They are probably still working on the SMS notification settings. I would contact their customer service.

I agree, but it seems so strange that even after the app is removed and the phone is reformatted that people can still see me online AIM and message me.

Are you sure you have pushed turned off? I think that pushed messages come through like a txt, thought it's not.

I am having lots of frustrating issues with the aim app. I don't think I've ever not had some sort of issue.

I'm not impressed with the AIM app so far. The interface is horrible; it doesn't capitalise the first letter of a new sentence; if I start a new 'conversation' my first message is not included in the timeline; the message-writing window is one long scrolling line; I get multiple push alerts for the same message; when I click "view" on a push alert I am not taken to the message but to the app's home-screen (although that might be an iPhone limitation).

Not exactly polished.

luckily i found this thread before actually creating a new topic. i'm having the same issue. my adium is currently on and when i receive a message, it goes to my iphone. if i have my aim app off on my phone, it'll still receive it later (even with settings for push notifications off and sign off immediately). this is somewhat annoying.

at first i deleted the app and reinstalled adium and it seemed fine. now it's back to this same nonsense. i'm not very pleased right now :/

if there happens to be a solution out there, please share!

it's not really the texts from aim, just the push notifications that i get.

i looked through my adium options and selected edit IM forwarding. it says i need to sign up to receive texts, which is not exactly what i'm looking for.

and i logged into aim.com and looked for something similar in my account settings. and it said to register a device for mobile messaging, and that isn't what i'm looking for either.

must figure a way out to fix this!

You are talking about getting push notifications to your phone and then having the same thing come up in adium I suppose? No way to fix that as that is the intended function I'm afraid.
