iPhone Air iPhone air slowdowns a lot

I don’t do much on the phone - music, YouTube, browse the internet, and yahoo fantasy (where the worst slow downs happen). The phone gets hot a lot. Wondering if I got a dud?? My 16 pro never slowed down.

Thermal throttling is real. However I’ve not faced slowdowns, only screen dimming which is common.
