Just curious if anyone has heard anything about this....

We all know that the iPhone will be getting the use of ActiveSync with Exchange soon(tm). My question however is, what about non exchange users? Will we get the use of ActiveSync or WMDC (the new activesync) on your home computers that are not on an Exchange server?

Why I ask is that for day to day use, I would love to bypass iTunes for my syncing needs. Granted, I know I will still use iTunes for my music. But would love to not have to use it all the time for my Calendar & Contacts etc.

No. ActiveSync will be Exchange only. Some enterprising (no pun intended) 3rd party developer might whip something up to accomplish that task, but what you refer to is for Exchange servers only.
