OK. I must not have followed instructions very well or the instructions were very poor. In either case, I now have a mess on 2 iPhones and 2 iPads. I could live with the damage done to mine (after all, I did it); but if I can't get my wife's devices fixed, I'm a goner.

Long story made short, she lost her Contacts. They got intermingled with mine because I didn't set up separate AppleIDs in the store and separate IDs in iCloud before I started with iOS5. My iPad has all her apps (and I think some of them are on my iPhone). It's a real mess.

Sooooo . . . I thought I could just do restores from backups done before installing the new OS. The problem is, they've disappeared. I can find backups from last Spring but none from last week. While considering restores from backups last night, I was able to see a backup from her devices dated 13 October. Today they don't appear. I did the backups before installing iOS5 using iTunes and the PC. I have since backed up the devices to iCloud. I want to restore from the iTunes backups.

Could someone point me to a good article or wiki on iOS backups and how to manage them?

TIA
