Is the wallpaper always displayed or only in the locked standby mode? (when it has the slide to unlock thingy) I ask because I don't ever remember seeing wallpaper behind the buttons but just a black screen. Especially on all those review vids and pics.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure it only shows up when the iPhone is in the "locked" position, with the "slide finger here" button.

Well, where else would it show up at? Some pictures would make it hard to see the icon's.

What... the icons would just override the picture... Like icons on your desktop lol.

Yes..but you aren't getting the point.

All the icons fill the screen as well, except for at the bottom. Having just a black background would be smarter anyways.

That is no excuse. I can just have a nice bright color wallpaper to lively up the the black background they use now. I really don't see see the reason you gave as a legitimate excuse at all.

Example this would look fine and nice behind the buttons. Even if you can't see the picture well, the bright green will stick out.

My iPhone wallpaper...

So here is my iPhone wallpaper... I can't wait for a CrackBerry owner to ask to see my iPhone, this will be the first thing that he/she sees...
