Hi all,

I am interested in getting an app created for the iPhone. There are websites which allow you to buy app UI templates online.

The plan is to buy a ui template and hire a developer to help modify it.

Is this a sensible idea? Have you bought app ui templates before?

Many thanks,

Ed

I say interview and hire developer first.

Talk to them about the results/function of the app first and don't be too tied to how it works based on a template. They may well use a template like the one you would buy but let them guide if it's going to be valuable.

Same advice apply to hiring any professional designer, you have to allow space for them to add the value your paying for.

I agree with Matt. An experienced developer will help you decide if a template is a good match for your needs or not. The wrong template could both waste your money and box in your developer and limit his/her options.
