Hey just checking if you have to use the Itunes store to throw apps into the device... or like an installer apps....

i came from a WM background suck ....

i know with the ipod i just connected it to any pc and i was able to use it as a hard drive and if i showed some hidden folders i could see the ipod_control that shows all the DB files for the music and such....

i know theres a 10 dollar prog but i dont own a mac. I just want to be able to just hook it up to any pc or like a regular flash drive....

does anyone know of a good archive of a place to download some apps rather then the store....

you can either download it in itunes, and sync them that way

or you can open the app store icon, and install them directly over wifi

I knew that method... Is it not possible to have access to the file system....

And download apps from other locations rather then iTunes

You can download apps over Wi-Fi or over the air (cell) directly onto the iPhone. They will "self-install" and be available for use immediately. Next time you sync, the app is copied up to your app library in iTunes.

As far as I know, you cannot put an app on your iPhone any way other than using the App Stroe or the iPhone or via iTunes. All iPhone apps have to be vetted by Apple, andnthey want their 30% cut. Jailbroken phones will be different, of course.
