So my phone has had some wierd artwork issues lately, and this seems to have only shown up after 2.2. I'm on Windows XP, with the latest iTunes.

I've manually put artwork in for everything on there through finding it online, and dragging and dropping. I'm having a couple different issues:

1. When scrolling through albums(non cover flow) a couple albums will show just a black square for the album art.

2. When looking through albums, a lot of albums that show cover art, when I go to play a song, just show a black box. However when I first click on the album, up in the right hand corner where you can access the list of tracks on the album, it will show the artwork for a second and then flip over.

3. A couple albums show half the artwork when playing, so its half of the album, and half black.

4. In cover flow I get kind of the same issue, where I get a black box for some art, but then when I move to the next album the artwork for the last album shows(not in that box, in the little sideways view next to it)

I found people having similar issues somewhere else online, where they suggested removing the ID3 tags and then putting either a 2.3 or 2.4 id3 tag onto the song and putting the artwork back on, but this didn't work.

Any ideas?

So I figured out how to correct the issue for anyone having similar problems. I was changing artwork on the phone, and not on the tracks on the computer, which for whatever reason it wasn't liking. I had put the art just right onto the songs on the phone before, but now its not liking it.

err what? how the heck do you change artwork for a song directly on the phone??

I think he meant he would view the song info from the music playlist on the iPhone when connected to iTunes, and change it from the library on the phone, rather than the library from iTunes and then syncing it over to the phone.
