Is it possible to use the “cellular internet data” I have on my iPhone -from my cellular provider- to be used as a WiFi, so I can have internet on my iMac?
Yes it is, I do it all the time. However, your carrier has to allow this facility and you may need to speak to them.
You set it up from settings personal hotspot.
The personal hotspot function comes default with a strong password that you will see when you attempt to make a connection. You can manually change the password if you wish. Unless someone knows the password, you will be fine. They wont be able to guess the default password the system assigned.
Yep I use my iPhone as a back up wifi source for when power goes out at home etc. I have T Mobile and as part of my plan I get 10gb’s of tethering or using it as a hot spot. Laptop, iPad, all work well using it.
I just noticed that my iMac will get internet from my iphone, when the later is connected to the first when using a cable! I was under the impression that the iphone could give internet to other devices only by the use of wifi.
