iPhone as modem?

Has anyone enabled the iPhone as a modem. I keep getting stuck in the wrong spot in hotels and motel and can't get wifi to link up. I want to use this phone to get on the internet like I did with the blackberry it replaced.

Yeah, I would like to know if this is possible, I'm sick of spending £10 an hour at Starbucks (where I am now) to use Wi-Fi.

I have free unlimited Internet on my Orange Contract with my iPhone, so if it's possible, someone PLEASE post!

actually, it is possible, but it requires hacking your iphone (and therefore voiding the warranty). there's a huge thread on it here and i'm sure there's more on it in the iphone hacks & apps forum where that thread is...
