Has anyone gone to the UK but has their iPhone with AT&T, only because the new job I start tomorrow requires me to travel abroad and I looked at Verizon's rates on a GSM capable phone and they are highway robbery, is the AT&T charges better and how is the their service. I was talking to the UK division and they said thru O2 they pay a fortune for iPhone cell service compared to us in the USA.

I can not believe what they pay on O2 compared to us on AT&T, wow

There's a World Traveler package for voice calling, which costs $5.99 a month and brings the cost of calling in the UK to $.99 per minute (as opposed to $1.29 without the add-on).

And then there's data, and that's where they really get you. You will definitely want to get a DataConnect Global add-on, which is in addition to your regular iPhone plan but gives you some pre-bought roaming data allowances. Otherwise, you'll get raped on international data roaming. The pricing is as follows:

$24.99/month: 20 MB
$59.99/month: 50 MB
$119.99/month: 100 MB
$199.99/month: 200 MB

Or, you could turn data roaming off on your iPhone and only use WiFi when you're in the UK.
