I went yesterday to the AT&T Wireless store to check out the iPhone. No one else was looking at it because of its expensive price. I was able to spend some time with it and the rep was extrememly nice, even though I told her I was still on a contract.
I wish the iPod version of this was out. 8Gigs won't cut it for me, but watching movies on the widescreen, the interface, and coverflow for music is intensely awesome.
Now for the phone. My current phone, of course, has gone the way of popular and has lead to a small phone, tiny buttons, and a tiny screen with too much info.
The iPhone's screen is large, easy to read, and I was able to use the phone with one hand (dial, search for contacts, etc. with my thumb).
I just called T-Mobile to ask when my contract is up. The contact department, needless to say, has been VERY BUSY. I unfortunately have over 14 months left. She asked if there was any problem.
I told her the truth, that I was very happy with my plan, the reception, the phones clarity (I have Windows Mobile), and customer service. But, the phone's buttons are too small and I can't read all the info on the small screen. Then I asked if they are getting the iPhone as I saw one at AT&T and it has the useability I need.
She replied that they have been getting lots of requests for it, but they are not able to supply one. She did say that I can go to the store and look at the PDAs and upgrade. I told her that I didn't think I was eligible for one since I just upgraded.
She said to go to the store and they will do something for me.
Something else interesting is that T-Mobile has reinstated the 1000 minute plan for $40 (which is what I've had for many years).
I would like to see Apple do a lower cost iPhone with just phone functions and make it available to all carriers...
