Iphone backup problem with itune

I just got a Imac and would like to make a backup of my daughter's iphone.
Actually, I made transfer from a PC, and not aware of itune-iphone matching issue!

It starts smoothly with a backup, until the iphone is stuck with restore mode! It seems that I need to restore the iphone with a factory setup? Where is the backup being done?

Is there anyway to go back to iphone's previous status! My daughter will be MAD at me!!!
