iPhone Backup Problem

I want to stop using my iphone on my PC, and instead use it on my Mac. Is it possible to move my iPhone preferences and files to the Mac?

I'd be very suprised if Apple overlooked this one, assuming they do actually want people to "switch".

i can't say for sure because i only use apple products, but i would assume simply syncing the device would trigger such a change or at the very minimum show a dialogue box asking if you want to change settings.
