Hello,
I just upgraded to Catalina this past weekend. I have an iPhone x 256 with 110gb on it. I backed up using finder and it took about an hour and 10 minutes, is this normal? furthermore, I backed up the next day again because I changed some settings but finder only showed the first backup as the "last backed up to this mac? Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you

Backing up 110 GB in 1 hour and 10 minutes is normal. You should be able to see your latest backup by attaching the iPhone to your Mac and when it appears in the Finder, select "Manage Backups". That should show the latest backup you made and any others.

Good to know that the time is normal. I did go into manage back ups and the second back up was not present only the first one I’ll try again and see if it appears

Going to question the time.

Is this over wifi or plugged in?

I sync my iPad over wifi, only about 40GB used, and takes maybe three minutes. iPhone plugged in with about same in use takes less time. Extrapolating to 110GB, don't seeing more than 15-ish minutes.

And that said, have seen the wifi sync fail from time to time with little/no mention.

Presumably, it was the OP's first backup and your wifi backup was not.

Also, most of the operating system (always on the device) isn't really backed up nor are downloaded apps (those are re-downloaded when you restore).

thanks, it's my first non-encrypted backup, the others were encrypted. I am over wifi on my macbook.
