when i first start up on my MBP i notice Finder shows my iPhone off to the left with a rotating icon. It is somehow refreshing my iPhone backup. I am unable to turn this off. there seems to be a ck box in Finder to do this; its is asserted ON but I unable to adj it = OFF. Might also say in Finder the iPhone icon seems to come and go all by itself as well. Normally i have BT set = OFF on the MBP. Both MBP and the iPhone are on the same LAN.

No big but i dont want the iPhone auto updating a known stable backup

How can i maintain my backup with manual methods?

REFERENCE
iPhone 7 with ios = 14.4
2017 MBP with Catalina 10.15.7

thanks

I'm having just the opposit problem, My MBP 2011 with OS 10.13
does not show my Iphone 8 in the finder. I've tried the 2 or 3 suggestions
to get it working.
I don't get a device I get (remote disc) under devices...I click on it and
it's empty
Kinda makes it hard to sinc

macOS 10.13 High Sierra does not display/sync iOS devices in Finder, it uses iTunes.

The use of Finder for syncing began with macOS 10.15 Catalina.
