My dad's iPhone was dead yesterday after almost no use. I docked it last night and charged it, so it was fully charged this morning. Two people called that number today, and he used Safari once, all for short times. It's dead again. I've used my iPhone for four hours straight with music playing through the speakers while browsing the Interweb and still had half the battery left. Have there been any other problems like this?

Me too...

My iPhone also gets warm for long periods of time when it's not doing anything and the battery lasts barely 8 hours with almost no use. It seems to have started when I upgraded to 1.1.3. I use gmail and 1.1.3 changed my gmail from POP to IMAP. I thought that was the problem, so today I turned off my email. It still gets warm while doing nothing. Using the iPod function makes it get warm and runs it down, but I'm still not sure what makes it get warm It seems to me that either my battery is going bad or 1.1.3 introduced a loop that keeps the battery going. Any ideas from anyone?

1.1.3 battery issue

I checked more of this forum. It sounds like 1.1.3 has a lot of issues, including battery problems. I'd like to downgrade to 1.1.2, but that sounds scary since I like to keep my iPhone like Apple wants me to. I now think that the battery problem is due to some loop in 1.1.3, but I can't pinpoint it. It used to be that only using the phone made my iPhone warm, but with 1.1.3 iPod, Phone, and gmail all make it warm. That's okay, but when I'm done, it should cool off and stop using the battery. Hopefully, we'll get 1.1.4 soon!

Same thing has been happening to me from time to time. I would charge it, go to work, not even use it and it would be dead. But after restoring it again it has not happened lately.

I just wish I could roll back to 1.1.2. :-(

His iPhone went dead again today, from a full charge. He said he took it out of his pocket and it was on (and hot), asking him if he wanted to delete an iCal event. He's never used iCal before. He also always presses the button on top of the phone to put it to sleep before he puts it in his pocket. If I restore the iPhone is he going to lose anything?

As long as you let it back up to iTunes and you have it configured properly to back up the phone to your computer. (iTunes Prefs > Syncing). When you plug the phone in let it sync first then proceed to restore. He shouldn't lose anything.

At 10% after 5 minutes of use!!

Last night, my iPhone got down to the 20% message. I recharged it overnight. Now, it reports 10% left, and shows 1hr 4min used, 14hr, 39 min standby. I received one phone call and made one phone call for a total of two minutes. I've used it for maybe 3 other minutes. I have email off and most of the day I've had WiFi off. So where did the extra hour of usage come from and why is my battery so low? I've had no battery problems at all between June 29th and January 15th. Then, I upgraded to 1.1.3 and my battery problems started. Should I visit the Apple store or wait for 1.1.4?
