I am pretty much convinced I'm going to keep my 8+ long term. I have no doubt the X+ will be fantastic, but I just don't think I want one. The 8+ is going to be perfectly fine for me until it's 3gb of ram is not sufficient.

My question is in regards to 2 years down the line when I need a new battery. Does apple manufacture older batteries for several years? If I get my battery replaced in 2020 with a battery that was produced in 2017 or 2018, it will have lost capacity just sitting on the shelf, even though it will have 0 cycles.

I'd assume people getting new 6s batteries are getting batteries produced in 2017/2018, so they truly are new.

How long does apple plan to produce batteries for previous model phones? Can you get a brand new battery 2-3 years after the phone launches?
