A friendly warning to anyone planning on performing multiple battery replacements....

I went for my Genius appt this afternoon at the Berlin Apple Store and handed in my iPhone 6s plus for the 29€ battery replacement.

They ran some diagnostics on the phone and set the reason for replacement as being over 500 load cycles. So much for "no questions asked" replacements.

Anyway, I also brought my wife's 6s for the same replacement, but was told that they only deal with one phone per appointment, the next available being in over a week!

I can appreciate this is to stop people turning up with an armful of devices for repair, but not allowing two phones for the same service seems nuts!

Now to tell the wife...

... and the chances of getting two contiguous appointments, or even two on the same day are... (drumroll)

* note: this is in relation to the Berlin Apple Store, which is usually booked out for a week in advance. YMMV...

IMO, Apple designed their "iDevice" appointment windows around being able to help the most customers in per day, which doesn't translate into being "couple friendly".

When I worked there many years ago, techs had 15 minutes for each appointment. If they run late on one, it delays them getting to the next customer on time, which snowballs down the line.

Just got the phone back and discovered 15 minutes after leaving the Store that vibration no longer works.

So that’s another Genius appt to set up!

Makes sense to me. When you make an appointment for anything it’s usually just for one.

You don’t schedule a doctors appointment and then ask for your wife to get a physical while you’re there unless you scheduled that in advance. Same for a dentist, or getting your car serviced. It wouldn’t be fair to everyone who’s waiting.

Try powering down the iPhone first, then power on and see if this fixes the problem

Otherwise, I wouldn't even make a Genius appointment, I would just go back to the store and explain you were just there for a battery replacement and now the haptic/vibration motor is not functioning properly. If the issue was caused by Apple, they won't fault you for not making a Genius appointment for something that you were just there for.

I tried to post the following question on the official Apple forum but access for the content was denied:

Just wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same problem about access to a facility to replace the battery in their iPhone 6? The iPhone is my only phone so I cannot mail it. I live in Columbia, South Carolina, the state capital. The nearest place I can get the battery replaced is in Augusta, GA - a 140 mile round trip. In Columbia we have several AT&T and Verizon stores plus the usual Best Buy outlets, but apparently they cannot change a battery. Are we unique in not having any readily accessible Apple resource / repair centers or do others have the same problem please?

Any insights would be appreciated. thank you.
