iPhone Battery

Third iPhone 4S, third time this has arose. Plugged the phone into the charger that came with the phone, with the cable too, but it doesn't charge. The battery drains while on the phone. Here are pictures showing what I mean. The phone also restarts and I have video of it freezing during the restart. Not that y'all will care because you refuse to believe anything but how perfect your phone is working but my Sprint version is having the same troubles, my friends iOS 5 iPhone 4 is going through it, and Apple has told me I can not get another phone because this problem is too much of an issue to them because they have been getting complaints of similar problems and are working on a group resolve. Symptoms include frozen phone calls that drop, freezing, restarts, software hang ups, battery drain, and glitchy operation in general. I love this phone honestly, but when it works. I'm not trying to be negative in any way about anyone on this forum it just sucks when I come to you guys and I get rejected and shot down as being an idiot some how because my Apple product isn't magical enough like everyone else's so please don't begin to hate me. I'm trying so hard to keep a positive attitude about this and hear reports back from you, REAL reports not just "my phone works fine you just are doing it wrong" and "turn it in" I've heard and done that thank you.

Wow even more impressive working on uploading pictures but the second I unplugged it to move it to my computer it died and refuses to turn on regardless of being on any charger I have available. Been 15 minutes and still no joy. I honestly am not complaining I just can't believe no one on here really believes there is a problem with something aside from blaming me for it all regardless of how many phones I have switched out and Apple representatives I have talked to who have assured me this is not the first time they've hear this.

3rd iPhone 4S? Do you mean that you've already exchanged for 3 iPhone 4S and all of them have this battery problems? I don't think this is an iOS 5 problem though, your issues here should be the hardware problem.

As for your friend with the iPhone 4 (with iOS 5), has he tried to restore to iOS 5 again and set up the phone as new then restore from backup?

Ive had the following occur: random restarts,more dropped calls then ever (4 or 5 bars),freezing, general software erratic behavior,many Bluetooth and connection issues,piss poor standby and general use battery life. But have not had a charging problem...yet

Are you on iPhone 4 (iOS 5) or iPhone 4S?

Have you set each phone up by restoring from a previous backup to save you losing your setups and apps etc? If so then your backup is more than likely causing the issue, so restore the phone and set it up from new as I think a lot of issues come from something carried over from the old iOS settings

My battery life has been quite good on my new 4S... but I think the reason is because I've been keeping Location Services turned off. I only turn it on briefly when I need it, then it goes back off again.

My wife's new 4S seems pretty good too even though her location services are enabled. She'll get a full day out of it, but if she doesn't plug in at least some time during the day, it's pretty low by then.

I'm running iOS 5 on a 3GS (aka years old phone with years old battery) and I'm not having battery problems.

Must be a Sprint thing as I've never heard of this wide spread issue that you speak of.

I'm not calling you out I just can't see one person having that bad of luck with thousands OD us out there with phones working just fine.

Mine is with AT&T.

I reported this issue to Apple back in iOS beta days, and I've posted the issues and workarounds here on macrumors. Of course, Apple wrote back stating that this is "normal." I love Apple, but some of those engineers are wacked.

Anyway, I discovered it was either the "traffic" or "set time zone" that kept requesting location services. You can disable either. In fact, I would go into location services and see where the 'purple arrow' is to figure out what is causing this.

Once again, another bug I reported that went as "it's a feature."

Lol I hear you. And this is on AT&T and Sprint versions. I haven't run any backups or restored from any backups since I had nothing to restore from. All new phones, yes. It's just weird that's all. I've just noticed so many weird anomalies with this phone. Recent one popped up, the "123" button wouldn't work no matter how or what part I pressed it, but every other would? Turned the screen off and back on and it worked again. Not trying to complain I'm just trying to see like why I have such bad luck with this thing, including others I've asked about if they've had any sorts of weird things go on. Not trying to say you guys just aren't seeing it but maybe it's something that hasn't really gone noticed around yet outside of what Apple has told me about this being typical actions for the device but also switches there statement saying it's not the device it's how you use it. I'm pretty sure if I plugged my phone in to the charger and it drained batter still that it can't be really anything I'm doing.

I had the same type of issue with my iPhone 4 under iOS 5. i noticed that i couldn't take me 2 days without a charge, i knew it had to be a software issue because 4.3 had the same problem (but MUCH, MUCH WORSE, ) watch this guys video for some tips:

I knew about a few of these tips before i saw this, (location services, icloud, ping all came to mind when i noticed a battery drain) but honestly, i think a temporary solution is to turn off the time zone (settings-location services - system services) made a huge difference with my battery when i turned it off.

I'm gonna try them, been too busy to do that lately. Finally got a day to get into it. I hope it works it just sucks to have to take a phone that was designed with all that stuff in mind and turn it off. "Here's iOS 5, it's great but if you care about having a phone for more than 5 hours, you're gonna have to dumb it down to iOS 4.75"

I didn't turn off photostream thought and im still getting the same type of battery life i had on 4.3.5. But im still very upset that i can't manually chose what photos i want to be sent to iCloud. Think about it, every picture you take and every picture you save to the camera roll is uploaded to icloud. Thank god im not a teenage girl who takes picture every 95 seconds because my battery would last 2 and a half hours. I hope apple realizes this is somewhat of a problem.

As others have said... Turn off time zone settings!

Your GPS thingy in the status bar the arrow thing? Go into setting/locations serviced and system services and see which one is purple?

photo stream pics don't count towards your storage, the downside (or plus for some) is they are only stored for a month.

If your running out of space though just click on iCloud in settings... then go into storage & backup, then select manage storage.

If you only have 1 apple device then you'll only have 1 item in there... if you select it then you can choose what is backed up and how much space is being used, just select the crap you don't want backed up. (just remember, it won't be restored either!) iCloud has a lot of options once you get used to it.

I have all the settings setup to where it's just those few documents, not even 3mb a piece. That's where I'm confuzzled. Even with everything off iCloud is still only giving me a few hundred megabytes of space to work with. And it is only for one device
