hey im getting a iphone for christmas i read on a thread that i should
Code:
Initial Charge (a few theories out there, I felt this is the safest route to go)
#1 - Buy the iPhone 3G. Do not use the iPhone 3G.
#2 - Initially charge your iPhone for 3 hours. I've read conflicting statements about this. To be safe, don't use your phone before letting it charge for 3 hours. Also, use your wall charger (avoid the computer charger).
#3 - Now it's time to calibrate your battery indicator. Let the iPhone's battery fully drain. Keep the iPhone off for five hours once drained, then fully charge your battery. Allow the battery to rest in the fully charged state for two hours. You may use your iPhone during this time as long as the iPhone is plugged in.
#4 - Repeat step #3 a maximum of three times if you feel your battery indicator is inaccurate.
should i do that or do like a few things out of it can some 1 please help me

I've read various contradictory articles on this matter. Some say you should always calibrate any battery, while others say that it is not needed since the technology in batteries are very well developed.

That being said, I almost always calibrate the battery. Whether it is a phone, laptop, etc.

Eh, when I first got my iPhone I was so excited I played with it until it died, then did my first full charge.

I charge mine every night currently, and let the battery die completely occasionally, but I really have not noticed an increase in battery life.

that will not harm your battery but I just find it useless..I've had 2 new iPhones and 4 supposed to be new or refurbished, all came charged and ready to be used, cool battery life but not the best, especially for the certainly new ones, with a few charging cycles they will get better..
You will need to calibrate it once a month, let it discharge completely, letting it sleep on its own, that is,and charge it fully and use it till the battery empties again. I've also heard using the wall charger is better than USB, someone said it makes it last longer.
for the remainin 29/30 days of the month charge it whenever you like/need for how long you want/need.
