I have an iPhone 3G and suddenly last night it stopped working. It shows that I have 4 bars and says 3G but when I try to make a call the bars suddenly go away and it says "call failed". When some one tries to call me it either does a busy tone or goes to my voice mail. However, I can send and receive text messages and get my email on it still. Basically everything works except calling. I called apple support but the guy seemed really dumb. I restarted, reset the network settings, etc but nothing worked. Have any of you had this problem? I have an appointment at the Apple store but I can't go til tomorrow, so it would be cool if someone knew how to fix it. Thanks!!

having exact same problem! started 3 may around noon. i am military away from home, no at&t or apple support anywhere nearby. please let me know how you get it fixed!

I would suspect that it's an issue with your account and the SIM card which will take talking with someone at AT&T about. Ironically, you cannot call them due to the issue, so hopefully you have another phone handy :(
